When in much need of more space, our client approached us with the requirement for a double storey side extension that would replace the original under used garage. As our clients were looking for an additional bedroom and a much bigger kitchen we firstly concentrated on incorporating these rooms in to the design but in such a way that the new areas would maximise the use of natural light in order to offer full potential to the build. The once small entrance hall has been extended with the integration of full height glazing and contemporary entrance door which allows for ease of access and room for a cloaks area.
At feasibility design stage, it was found that the space available allowed for an additional double bedroom, an extended single room and and en-suite shower room which was more than our client expected. At ground floor level, the kitchen is now a large space that has an additional utility room and W.C. accessed from it. In addition, there is a useful storage space accessed from the front of the property. This extension is a true addition to this family home and has provided our clients with more than they hoped.
We took this project through feasibility, planning application and building regulation stages.
